Troop 890

CAPS

CAPS is a annual program facilitated by Troop 890 giving scouts the opportunity to earn four merit badges over a three month time period. The program begins the Saturday following summer camp. CAPS is open to all scouts but 1st year scouts are the predominant participants. The program includes training bike rides at White Rock Lake along with classes on bike maintenance culminating in the Iron Eagle triathlon held at the end of Labor Day weekend and a 50 mile bike ride at the Waco Wild West ride in late September. This is a great opportunity for the scouts to have some fun and get lots of good exercise at the same time. CAPS covers the following merit badges:

  1. Cycling: Knowing your bike, biking safety and road trips!
  2. Athletics: How to train for and plan sports events.
  3. Personal Fitness: Physical and mental health, developing healthy habits.
  4. Sports: Participating, training, and being a good team player.
